DUBLIN LAYOVER

MY HUSBAND AND I HAVE A 3 HOUR LAYOVER IN DUBLIN AND HAVE NEVER BEEN THERE BEFORE. WE THOUGHT WE MIGHT TAKE A MAKE A QUICK TAXI TRIP TO A RESTAURANT NEAR THE AIRPORT AND POSSIBLY BE ABLE TO SEE JUST A BIT OF IRELAND. ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR RESTAURANTS NEAR THE AIRPORT? ALSO, SINCE IT WILL BE MOTHER'S DAY (DO THEY CELEBRATE THAT IN IRELAND?), DO WE NEED RESERVATIONS? THANKS FOR YOUR HELP.

Mother's Day in Ireland is in March, not in May when we celebrate it, so no worries there. I never ate around the airport, so I can't help you there. I think 3 hours is tight to leave the airport, get back and go through security, but others may feel differently.

Thanks for your help. It looks like I'll be spending my Mother's Day eating at the airport in Dublin. Sure wouldn't want to miss my plane to Rome.

I wouldn't even consider leaving the airport for a 3 hour layover. Honestly, you'll probably just have enough to time to get off the plane, have a meal and then go to your next gate.

I am not 100% sure but will the airline allow you to leave the concourse area once you touch down. You are going from Dublin to Rome. Would you have to go back through customs and such?

Just curious, if you are going to rome, are you flying in on aerlingus and then taking another airline to rome. How are you doing this and where are you flying from? I ask because I am considering a trip in 2007 (18 months away)from BOS to Paris to rome and I think flying first to DUB may be the cheapest route.
