Driving in france - new laws
Just started thinking about a trip to France later this year and found out that our French friends have implemented new driving laws which could catch us unsuspecting visitors out.
There is now a requirement for all cars to carry an unused and working alcohol breath tester at all times.
Speed camera detectors even those in Tom Tom type sat nav units are now illegal and must be disabled. The French have removed speed camera warning signs too.
So beware. Big on the spot fines could be payable.

I have my breathalysers already for my trip to the UK in August. I can just imagine the gendarmes sitting just over the border with Belgium stopping all Dutch cars.
I also got a couple which my sons can borrow for when they go to France.
Most hire cars should have them - or more likely will sell them to you on pick up. Otherwise they are available at petrol stations and service areas, and only cost a couple of euro.
You need two so that you have one unused one should you decide to self test yourself. Though if you have drunk enough you need to self test you have probably drunk too much and shouldn't be driving period.
