Has anyone stayed at the Chateau le Treyne? What is the appropriate dress for dinner?

Yes, I've been there and I can't imagine why anyone would want to go there. Beautiful grounds, but vastly overpriced and very rude staff.

I haven't eaten there either, but whenever I eat at a place whose name begins with "Château" I assume I should dress up.

Assume a jacket for a man? We will be staying 3 nights (half board) and I am trying to limit our luggage. I see that it is a stop on bike trips so I am wondering what those travelers do. <BR>Thanks.

Jane-everytime we stayed at Chateaus in France,the usual dress for men at dinner in the Chateau was coat and tie--a blazer and shirt,tie, and khakis will be fine..A nice pantsuit or dress is fine for women

I agree with Andrea. I have not eaten at Chateau le Treyne, but have eaten at other very nice establishments in the Dordogne region and my husband generally wore a jacket(Navy), slacks (khakis), tie, although there were times he wore the jacket with a polo shirt instead of dress shirt and tie, particularly if we were dining outdoors. To save space, wear the jacket on the plane.

At lunch, some fellow diners were dressed in jackets, so dinner would definitely demand a jacket and tie. Why wouldn't you want to dress up in such a setting (and for this kind of money)?

<BR>I have stayed at a lot of relais chateaux like and inclding Treyne and quite often the only <BR>diners wearing jackets were the other Americans <BR>The handful of French also dressed well but most of the guests (Northern Eurpeans) dressed in typical eurotrash attire===mostly planet hollywood attire <BR>I would bring the blazer--dress for yourself and not the perception of how you should dress <BR> <BR>ps I oo dislike the Treyne--especially the attitude <BR> <BR>AH
