Dolamites

Does anyone know the distance by train from Florence to Vodo di Cadore or the Dolamites?
My husband's family is from Vodo and while we are in Italy next year I would love to see the village they came from.

Did you mean: Dolomites? Use the Italian rail site for info, just make sure you spell the names of the cities right (which it may mean knowing their Italian names...) http://www.italiarail.com/tickets/IR/IR.asp?AFF=TRE

I input Vodo Cadore and Florence into maps.goggle.com and located your town in the Dolomites, due north of Venice. The trip is estimated at 379 km and 4 hrs 14 mins.

For another reference point, Vodo Cadore is just south of Cortina d'Ampezzo, the famous ski resort.

Hi Shar - For more info go to:

http://www.dolomiti.org/dengl/SanVito/vodo.php

Road access is easiest via Venice and Pieve di Cadore.

By public transport the nearest railway station is Calalzo - from where there is a connecting bus service to Vodo and Cortina.

Hope this helps ...
