Disney Castle in Germany???

I hear there is a castle in Germany of which they made a replica which is what we know now as the Magic Kingdom at Disney World. Does any one know where this castle can be found and what the real name is?

Neuschwanstein; Bavaria.

But it's a myth. He actually based the castle on Craigievar in Aberdeeenshire Scotland

I read that dear Walt actually borrowed bits and pieces of different castles to create the Cinderella's castle in Orlando.

Hi! When we visited the Neuschwanstein in Bavaria, Germany last year, our tour guide mentioned that the Disney Cinderella castle was modeled after it. I've also heard that from several others, but who knows, it seems ple here have heard different. Either way, It's a fantastic castle to visit--absolutely breathtaking! Enjoy!

Go to your map of Germany. Find the town of Fussen in the southern part, right on the border with Austria. Neuschawstein is located there along with another King Ludwig castle. You can tour both on same trip.

The area of Garmisch is east of there and the entire area is beautiful. You will enjoy the visit. Bring good walking shoes!

Nothing "copied" for Cinderealla's castle, but Neuschwanstein (roughly = "New Swanstone") had a large influence, as you will clearly see.

You've probably already seen the castle in one or another pictures ... usually taken from a helicopter and often showing up in travel agency posters and calendars.

It's in a very interesting area that's quite enjoyable to visit. You can get an introduction to the area at
www.twenj.com/bavarianeu.htm

Definately modeled after Neuschwanstein. I've been to both (Disney and Neuschwanstein) numerous times. Both locations profess the connection (in both languages).

Spain lover is right, it's the Alcazar in Segovia folks! It's amazing, kids love climbing the towers and the view from there is to die for!

Coleen is correct. Both Disneyland and the folks at Neuschwanstein have been stating that for at least 30 years (the first time I was at Disneyland). It (the disney one) is not an exact replica, but you can definitely see the resemblance.
