Delta-CDG

Has anyone flown from ATL to CDG lately? The flights have been landing and departing via busing for several years now. In Feb. when there, I asked when Delta was going to be able to pull up to a terminal. I was told that it was to be ready by summer. I have my doubts with the way things go at CDG. I will next be there in Oct...maybe by then....

Unless you need a wheelchair for health reasons, why is this even a problem? The buses pull right up to the plane and right up to the terminal. There's not a whole lot of walking taking place.

As to plane being "on time"..I have never had bad problems with Delta. In fact, in Feb. the flight was 1 hr. EARLY in both directions!! Unheard of!! It could easily be the other way!

Re bussing to and from terminal to the middle of nowhere: I find it very inconvenient. I would only take carry-on IF it was at the terminal. Lugging luggage onto and off of buses, climbing up and down a very large number of long and steep steps on/off plane certainly is not convenient for me!!

I think most flights out of terminal 2 are still busing, Delta or otherwise. My AF departure flight a week and a half ago did.

Why is it a problem busing? I'll tell you. You are squeezed onto the bus , with luggage all over your feet, the doors close , there is no air, and you drive at least the time it would take to get to Paris.

Leaving CDG is sometimes worse. You are squeezed again onto the bus, until it is almost too full, doors closed , no ventilation, pull up to the plane after the 15 or 20 minute ride, and sit there for 10 minutes or so, doors closed, no air...until some Frenchman bangs on the window to the driver and insists on some air!

I did have a "lovely" letter from Delta/Air France apologizing for all the good that did. And don't think that if you are flying first or business you'll be exempt!

In February when I was there I asked at CDG when it would change. I was told it would be ready for summer travelers!! That was the reason for my question..I doubted their response! I am hoping it will be changed by Oct. for my next trip..not really counting on it, though.

Thanks from those who have had the "fun" recently.........

I believe the S3 satellite is now open for 2E and 2F flights to use, so that may have helped a little. But the major improvement won't come until late summer to fall 2008 when 2G is supposed to open and the collapsed part of 2E reopens.
