Parking in Cinque Terre/Monterosso

I will be driving to Cinque Terre and I know that I will need to park the car in Monterosso (I'm staying for two nights in Vernazza). Apparently, there is a large field which is used as a parking lot near Monterosso. Has anyone parked there?

I have two questions. Is overnight parking allowed?

Does anyone remember how much it costs to park?

Thanks to everyone of this site who help others! My planning has been mostly from Fodor's Europe!

I parked in La Spezia and trained to Vernazza. There is a little parking lot above Vernazza I probably could have used in October, but probably not in the summer. As I recall they wanted 11 Euro per night for that lot so expect something along that line. Monterosso is bigger and I would expect more parking but I haven't seen the lot you are talking about.

It is a large lot on the water in Monterosso. It will allow overnite---not sure of cost but it is probably your best option.

In Jan the large lot in a filled in part of the sea was under reconstruction and enlargement - probably ready for high season

there is also a smaller parking garage - several decks at the far end of town going up hill

Any ideas on places to stay in Vernazza or Monterosso? My daughter will be there in about a month and we're having trouble finding a place that won't break the bank.

Thanks!
