I will be staying at the Copthorne Tara in June. Although I haven't seen the inside of it, I feel that it is a good hotel because Trafalgar Tours uses it and they don't use bad hotels. I stayed next door to it at the Knesington Close in 1995. The neighborhood is good and the hotel is conveniently located near Kensington Palace. The Kensington High tube station is only a block and a hald away. The outside of the Copthorne Tara looks fine and a friend of mine stayed there and she said it was nice.

I stayed at the Tara for a week several years ago.
At the time, the location was great. Just a short walk up to the Kensington High Street where the bus took us straight to Trafalgar and Picadilly, if we wanted, on to St. Paul's Cathedral.

The room had three ordinary, but not bad, single beds in it. The bathroom was functional, with plenty of hot water, but the room overall was small.

I did not spend much time in it except to sleep and bath.

I think the hotel is unless really spruced up since I was there would rate about like any run of the mill Holiday Inn, with pint sized rooms.

We had one unsettling experience when there.
The fire alarm sounded and my wife and son headed down the stair well marked fire escape. When they got to the bottom, the exit door was firmly bolted on the other side.

Fortunately, the fire was contained in the kitchen, which was in a separate wing.

Another feature, the rooms away from the main entrance overlook the open tube line that serves Kensington High Street Station. So about 6 AM be ready for a rumble and a roar on that side. (I don't think that the tube has been enclosed yet, but it may have been.)

We stayed at the Tara a couple of years ago and loved it, had a very big room, only problem was that it faced the station which was not the best view to have, but was not noisy because it was double-glased.We found the pubs, lounges and coffee bars, ect.all great, also the breakfast was wonderful. We would happily stay here again.

Would someone comment on the rate for this B&B and what it includes? Thanks. June

THE COPTHORNE TARA ISN'T A B&B. IT IS A LARGE HOTEL.. THE RATE VARIES WITH THE SEASON AND WHETHER YOU REQUIRE A SINGLE ROOM OR A DOUBLE ROOM. A DOUBLE IS $71.00 IN LOW SEASON AND $102 IN HIGH SEASON. THIS RATE IS PER PERSON. FOR A SINGLE, $108 IN LOW SEASON AND $178 IN HIGH SEASON. THIS IS A VERY REASONABLE RATE FOR A GOOD LONDON HOTEL.

Just returned from a week at the Copthorne Tara as
part of a British Airways package. We thought the
hotel was terrific. Granted, the rooms are small by
US standards, but they were extremely comfortable.
The soundproofing is exceptional. No noise from the
surrounding rooms or the trains going by right beneath our window. We slept very well, which meant for more enjoyable sightseeing during the day thanks to the extra rest. The staff were extremely helpful, answering all of our numerous questions. We asked for room service breakfast to be delivered an hour before the starting time listed on the form, and it arrived right on time for us. The location was ideal, just a short walk to the Kensington High Street station. There are lots of shops nearby. Also, the hotel is within walking distance of Kensington Palace & Gardens. We spent some time each evening in the Gardens before heading back to the room. All in all, we were quite satisfied with the Tara, which was not our original choice, but was available for our time frame. We would definitely stay there again.

Just returned from London early June - stayed at Copthorne Tara Hotel in Kensington. Hotel is located in courtyard about one block from Kensington High Street. Atmosphere busy but comfortable and better than average. Restaurants very nice - continetal breakfast also better than average. Room not extra large but contained several amenities not always found in other hotels - coffee/tea service, complete ironing facility, mini-bar, nicely decorated. Location convenient to shopping and tube. Money exchange, show tickets, gift shop, concierge service all available in lobby. We were pleased and feel most people would be comfortable in this hotel.
