Copenhagen - Tivoli Gardens

Just checking out their web site and a question popped up -- haven't spotted the info in any of my guide books yet. Is there a fee for entrance to this? Somehow I thought it was a like a public garden or the area near the Louvre where one could wander and enjoy -- paying only for food purchases and, if desired, a ride.
Thanks for any info.

Yes, when we visited in August 1999, we paid an admission fee. I believe for adults it is 50 DKK and children 25 Dkk. In their website select INFO and CURENT INFO and the different prices (admission, one ride, multi ride) will be displayed.

Admission fluctuates with the time of entrance: 35dkk 11am-1pm, 45dkk 1-9:30, & 20dkk 9:30-midnight. It's worth every krone! Rides are fairly cheap at 20 dkk.You can spend all day there & not get bored.

Tivoli does have a rather small entrance fee, and you can also get a ride pass for all day.
It's charming and quaint, with beautiful gardens, although some areas are a bit like a cheesy carnival! You get a terrific view of the city from the Tower, but then it drops you very, very quickly to the bottom. Such fun, but not for the weak-hearted! I'd say it's a don't miss.
P.S. The Viking restaurant in Tivoli is unique and very well done; they strive for authenticity and are a "real" restaurant, unlike the eateries in some theme parks.

Admission to Tivoli is free with a Copenhagen Card. It was nice to be able to go in and out when we wanted to. There are some nice restaurants in there, and it's one of the best places I've found for people-watching. My kids had the best time watching people at the "plate-breaking booth" Don't remember what they called it in Danish but it was a booth where ostensibly you would try to throw large heavy rubber "rocks" into a basket, but there were stacks of cheap crockery all around and it was much more fun to miss the basket. Have not seen anything like this at carnicals in the States but I'll bet it would be a hit. Have a good time. I miss Tivoli.
