Connecting flights

We are traveling from Phoenix to Turkey on Oct. 5th via New York. Our tour operator has only given us a two hour connecting time between New York and Turkey. Since they are saying we now need to give ourselves 4 hours for international flights, I am VERY concerned. Is anyone else facing this problem? Has anyone talked to their tour operator about this? Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I think your luggage will be checked through and there is no need for four hours between flights. You should be fine unless your flight from Phoenix is delayed. Have a safe journey!

It's probably fine, but I would call the airline. Last year, we connected in Brussels on our way to Tel Aviv. Even though our luggage should have gone through, everyone taking the leg from Brussels to Tel Aviv had to answer questions and go through their luggage in front of airline security. This might have been because we took a different airline for the first leg. I don't remember it causing a delay and can't remember how long we were in Brussles. It wasn't an inordinate amount of time. My guess is that the airlines are aware of the potential lag and will probably be aware if passengers are being delayed for security reasons.
