Dear Anne,

I was just back from London and intend to go back there in the near future. I hope you will find the three modestly priced London hotels (bed and breakfast) listed in the link useful. Please let me know when you comeback. Or if, you used another hotel, let me know also if you liked your hotel. I may include it among those suggested by other readers.

C

We just got back from the UK we spent four nights in London at the Stanley House Hotel on Belgrave street. I think my wife got the address from "The Rough Guide". It was about three blocks from Victoria station, a nice few blocks walk to Buckingham Palace and a good walk to Westminster Abby and Big Ben. One room had three beds. It's pretty basic but clean, no elevator, tv, small shower, breakfast. It worked fine once we realized it was clean and well located.

My wife and I have stayed several times at the Oakley Hotel in Chelsea. A double was 42 pounds per night in May.

It is right off of Kings Road in SW3. Owned by an English guy, run by Australian students. It is close to stores, pubs, Sloane Square tube stop. Nothing spectacular, but great value - clean and cheap.

The number is 0171 352 5599.

This will sound ridiculous, but there is a great Italian pizza place on the corner of Oakley Street and Kings Road - Pucci Pizza.

Enjoy your trip!
