Change euro in genebra

Please advise where is the best place to change money in genebra. are there any taxes, anywhere free of tax. Are the rates all the same or does it chance from one place to another. I read Lyland finance is a good choice at Rue du mont planc.
Thanks

This question comes up a lot and the answer is always the same. Use your ATM card. The rates are not all the same and there is no place to exchange over the counter that even comes close to the better rate you will get by using an ATM card. Be sure to advise your bank in advance of your trip so they won't flag it for irregular activity.

Perhaps the OP means fees instead of tax. Yes there are fees but they are lowest when you use your ATM card.

I think I read a post a couple of years ago that Brazilians may have a currency issue( forgive me if I have confused it and that earlier poster was from Argentina. It was one or the other). Apparently they can't use their ATM cards like travelers from other countries.

Clarify - do you have a bank card and can you use it overseas? If yes, then the above info is correct - use your bank card to get cash as you need it.

Since Genebra is the Portugese for Geneva, I assumed that Andreia from Brazil wanted to know how to exchange euro into Swiss francs. He had heard of Lyland Finance and wanted to know if they were a good bureau de change.

If you have one currency in your hand, a bureau de change is the only option, however much the fees.

I cannot help, so has anyone else exchanged currency in Geneva?

OK, if an ATM card is not an option for the OP then I have a suggestion. About 10 years ago I was in Geneva and although I used my ATM card I was told the train station is the best place to exchange cash, even better than a bank. I don't know if that's still true but that's what I heard at the time.

Chartley, thanks for the translation of Geneva. If the OP is not a native English speaker that might also explain the confusion about the word "tax," instead of "fees."

AndreiaBrazil, Geneva is a very fine city and I think you will enjoy your trip. If you have any other questions please post again.

Usual deal at Swiss exchange kiosks: great exchange rate generally comes with a higher commission; low or no commission usually equals poor(er) exchange rate

Thank youuuu.Janisj you are right. We ususallly use cash because we have a high tax over any foreign currency 6.38% if you pay with a credit card, or if you get money from your bank abroad. Tha's why Nowadays it is not a big deal to use a credit card or a travel money card. So cash in Euros is the better choice. So in Switzerland we have to exchange currency. I was not clear - 2 things to check. - places with no commisions And good rates.
