if you are near frankfurt, check out the schloss hotel kronberg, (lhw.cm), very near the airport, but it seems worlds away, and a breakfast that you will never forget.

I've stayed at the Schlosshotel in Jagsthausen twice. It's got a great restaurant and lovely accomodations. Goethe wrote a play or story about the Baron that once lived there. All I remember about it was that when The Baron was surrounded and asked to surrender, he told his enemies "You can kiss my a$$" You gotta love a guy with that attitude!!!

We did, in fact, stay at Burg Colmberg--June 2002. I can't believe it was 4 years ago that we visited Germany. It was one of the best trips we have experienced traveling as a couple over the past 30+ years.

And Burg Colmberg was a real pleasure. The restaurant was very good as well.

Mrs. Fly was a bit disappointed when we first saw our room--I think she was expecting rough stone walls covered in spider webs, mold and dripping water. Maybe some chains and manacles hanging.

But she soon got over that--the rooms are nicely modernized, but the old castle is still the old castle.

Nice views of the rolling Franconian countryside if you get a room on the outside as opposed to overlooking the courtyard. If there's a golfer in the party, they also operate a 9-hole golf course.

A 20 minute drive to old town Rothenburg on route 2250--it's a straight shot.
