Carousel in "Amelie"
Just watched the film AMELIE....loved it!!
Does anyone know if the antique carousel shown in the film is really in existence or was it a prop? Is it in a part of Paris or somehwere else? I would love to visit that area. Any help?

Paris is simply full of carousels. It is entirely possible it is rael, not a prop. check out the book, Collected Traveler Paris, by Barrie Kerper. There is an article in this book about Paris and its carousels.

while this doesn't answer your question, maybe it will point you in a direction to get an answer.

The one in Avignon is right on the main large place in front of the Hotel de Ville (Place d'Horloge), at least it was when I was there. Perhaps they don't have it up in May, but I thought it was always there. It's at the top end towards the palace.

Here's a photo of the one near Sacre Coeur
http://www.planetware.com/photos/F/PRSACCOL.HTM
It's at place St Pierre.
