Car rental Gatwick to Heathrow
Some advice please. We fly Edinburgh to Gatwick, arriving at 10am, and want to rent a car to go to Windsor for the day before heading to our hotel near Heathrow (so we can fly home the next day). We plan on picking up the car at Gatwick and dropping off at Heathrow. I've found a rental agency (Whizzcarrental.net) which will allow us do this for about 26 pounds (cheapest I've found on any website). Do you know anything about this agency and is it do-able? We will have just spent the last 6 days driving in Scotland so I'll be used to driving on the 'wrong' side of the road. Any other suggestions on how to do this? Thanks!

See if there is an Avis or National Rentail ( via AutoEurope).
We always use AutoEurope for booking cars in London vicinity...
If there is a pick up at Gatwick, I KNOW there is a return at Heathrow ( as that is where we always get our cars)..
In addition, we normaly stay at the Sheraton Heathrow for our AM flights out in the following morning..literally 5 min from Heathrow and hotel has a shuttle service (that you pay for) to take you to and from Heathrow..
Avis is right down the street from this hotel along with a ton of other car rental agencies...
Go to AutoEurope and MAKE sure you take out Collision Insurance..

Thanks for the suggestion Andy. Unfortunately, AutoEurope requires a 3-day rental and I only need it for one.
I've found a couple of other rental agencies and wondered if anyone has heard of them: Just1carrental.com and auto-reservation-plus.com.
Also, do I really need to get their Collision Insurance or is it more for peace of mind?
Thanks!

Just be aware that your credit card insurance is voided if you take other insurance and you may leave yourself with a deductible that you don't have with the CC insurance. My opinion is NOT to take collision insurance.

I was planning to pay that extra amount for "peace of mind" until I found out my deductible would be around $1100!! That gives me no peace of mind. I will use my credit card's insurance, which has no deductible.

PJA-
Definitely TAKE out the Collision Insurance...With AX ( green card), they take care of the deductible only...it is NOT like in the USA....
So you do need collision insurance in Europe or the UK...
We have been doing this number for the past 15 years...
