Budget Hotel in Paris?
Extended family will be in Paris in late September, everyone with a different budget. Brother is looking for a budget hotel, a double in the 100 E range. He's asked for input on the following hotels.
1. d'Albe
2. Deux Iles
3. St. Jacques
4. Odeon Hotel
Anyone with experience on these hotels? Or suggestions for others?

annieladd,
Hotel Bonaparte in the 6th is very well located and has doubles starting at 119E. Their phone is 33 01 43 26 97 37 and fax is 33 01 46 33 57 67. There's lots of feedback here on this hotel, if you or your brother is interested.

Unless you are finding a special rate, only one of those hotels has doubles for 100 E.
There are 2 hotels named "Odéon"-
one at 3 rue de l'Odéon -- cheapest room is single for 130 E.
one at 13 rue Saint Sulpice. - - cheapest room is single for 125 E.
Hotel des Deux Iles - single / 140 E
Hotel d'Albe - doubles/twins 140-160 E
Hotel Saint Jacques 9 (35, rue des Ecoles ) - double 85-112 E http://www.france-hotel-guide.com/h75005stjacques.htm
good reviews on TripAdvisor: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...de_France.html

Another hotel you might consider is the Hôtel Résidence Monge. Do a search on this forum and you will find a lot of information and favorable reviews. I have stayed there twice and was quite happy. The hotel is in the 5th and the rates are 75-130€. There are also two metro within a block of the hotel.
Here is their web site:

Hi Annie:
We recently stayed at the St. Jacques. You can read about it on our website (our 2003 trip) at:
www.davidandcarol.com
In 2001 we stayed at the Hotel des Grandes Ecoles, definately our favorite in Paris.
A bit more info about the St. Jacques since you specifically asked. We liked the hotel except for one thing. We had a room facing the street, and because it was warm, we left the windows open. There was a LOT of street noise so we didn't sleep very well.
However, overall the hotel was very nice, in a great location and if given the choice of no Paris or the St. Jacques, I'd choose the St. Jacques hands down.
I hope that helps!
Carol

I just got this promotion via email if you are still interested in the Odeon Hotel. I have not stayed there so I cannot give you any input on this one. Have a good time, Denise
Book a three-night stay at the Odeon Hotel* and we?ll send a car to pick you up at the airport free of charge.
Perfectly located in the heart of the Left Bank - with the Latin Quarter and St. Germain des Prés just outside the front door - we are a real three-star hotel offering top-quality service and comfort. Completely renovated in 2002, all the rooms are equipped with air conditioning, cable TV and WiFi Internet access. Our friendly staff, who greet you by name, go out of their way to make your stay a pleasant one.
*Offer applies to a limited number of rooms.

I just read a review of the Hotel Devillas, one I'd never heard of before. It's a 2* (although it apparently qualifies for 3*) with both elevator and a/c and rooms that sound very nice. The hotel is in the 5th, near the Jardin des Plantes, and is family-owned. The nearest métro is St-Marcel.
The person who wrote the review was very impressed with the hotel, and it does sound quite good. Prices range from 75 to 125€ per night. This sounds like a real find, and I hope someone stays there and provides more feedback.

des Grandes Ecoles is my favorite, but is more than 100E. I have stayed at Residence Monge. The rooms are small but spotless and the breakfast is very good. It is close to the Seine and walking distance to most things
