We stayed in Brugge last Easter and it was very busy and everything was open, shops, restaurants, museums etc. Didn't notice anything that was shut for the holiday. Brugge is great, we really enjoyed it. There was a good market in one of the main squares, I think it was on Saturday.

One tip for eating, you will get better food if you wander a little away from the main tourist squares - it's the same in any touristy town but worth mentioning. We had some fantastic meals and there are LOTS of wonderful chocolate shops.

Bruges at Easter - you lucky thing!! Bruges is nearly always open 7 days a week. Some shops will close for a couple of weeks just after the New Year and some close for 2 or 3 weeks in the summer for holidays - the shops that do are run by their owners. At all other times they remain open all week to do business. It's a great city and all wonderful places to visit in easy walking distance. You need to try fresh hand-made Belgian Chocolates as well. In Simon Stevinplein is The Chocolate Line (very famous and quite expensive) and nearby in Mariastraat (#1) is The Old Chocolate House run by Francoice and her daughter Barbe - very friendly - great choice and variety and they also ship chocolates as well - look at the map on their web site to see how near evrything is. They are only 1 minutes walk from the Church of our Lady where there is the famous Madonna with Child sculpture by Michelangelo. http://www.oldchocolatehouse.com
