Padraig - I was really disappointed that we couldn't get inside the cathedral - and a bit surprised it wasn't open on Easter Sunday - thought there might well have been a service going on, hence the need to be 'manned'!

Enjoyed reading your report as we're considering this area next spring.
What was the average temperature when you were there? It appears from your nice photos that most of the trees had not greened out yet. Were many plants blooming?

Probably between about 15 and 20 degrees C most days - certainly not cold (though late evening we did generally light the woodburning stove).
I would think even if you didn't get sunshine that by April/May you are mostly talking mild weather.
Plants were blooming - lots of spring flowers.
