Berlin tours?
My daughter is going to Berlin at the beginning of October for a medical conference. She is arriving a couple of days before the conference starts so she can do some sightseeing, and would like an English language walking tour to help her get oriented to the city. What recommendations do you all have?
Thanks!

Berlin is a huge city but the most popular sights are in a compact area in old East Berlin - from the Brandenburg Gate/Bundestag area to Museum Island and Alexanderplatz - look for a tour in this very walkable area with so many neat places along the way. For an insight into the whole of greater Berlin the HOHO - Hop On Hop Off open-top double decker bus tours circulate around most major sights with commentary en route and you can get on and off for a whole day with one ticket - great way to orient oneself to this amazing city.

This is old but many things are timeless - like description of walk from Reichstag to Alexanderplatz and sights along the way:

The official tourism agency has advice on tours and many other subjects: https://www.visitberlin.de/en
Walking tours are competitively priced and good value to set you up for enjoying Berlin.

and actually many main sights and districts are accessible via an elevated S-Bahn train that slices thru the heart of West and East Berlin - nice views from the train. And bus #100 (not sure of number) is a public bus that also goes by many sights.

If it's not too late, can I suggest Best Berlin Walking Tours. We took a half day tour today that was excellent. The brochure said 3 1/2 to 4 hours but we actually walked for 5 hours. It was exhausting but we'll worth the effort. Our guide, Jess, was knowledgeable and interesting -- not just a list of dates and events but real human interest.
