Berlin to Paris
Hi all,
I need to get from Berlin to Paris and I am wondering the best way to "get there." I am on a budget, too. Train, flying? If so, which trains/airlines/etc.
I am kinda clueless about the best way to get there (there is two of us) so any advice/tips/insight would be GREATLY appreciated!

Berlin - Paris;
- anywhere from about $60-130, one way, on various airlines, currently - a 2 hour flight.
- anywhere from about 80-120 Euros ($105 - 170), via train, - an 8.5 hour train ride.
If looking online for airfare use "BER" as the airport code or select "Any" if offered a choice when you type in Berlin because there are two airports in Berlin. Schoenfeld (SXF) has more of the budget airlines operating intra-European flights from it. TXL (Tegel) is the other airport code but BER will search for both of them.
Try skyscanner.net for the widest selection of budget airline fares
It will cost you a little more to get to and from airports, probably, if you are basing yourself in Berlin and Paris near that train stations you might otherwise use, so you should research and factor that in. Public transportation is possible so it should not be too much more.
In Berlin it would be the Hauptbahnhof, or main station, you depart from and you would arrive at either Paris Nord or Paris Est.

Just did a day trip from Berlin to Paris a few weeks ago. Take a look at Easy Jet, we did book a month or so out and the r/t flight was very reasonable however there are lots of add-ons and restrictions so look closely. Also, they are very serious about luggage size in regards to carry-on, no fudging there. It's a quick hop from Berlin Schönefeld to Paris Orly and easy to take the RER into the city.

consider the CNL (CityNightLiner) train Aramis tells about - fares lowest usually 93 euros including sleeping berth or reclining chair not sure which - well yes that is about $140 but you save in the cost of a night in a hotel or hostel and taking an overnight train can be exciting if never done it before - I have taken literally 1000s on night trains all over Europe - but folks who are light sleepers may eschew them because there always is a bit of noise from tracks, ubiquitous snorers - to get a private compartment would cost a lot lot more than the base sharing couchette or getting a reclining chair price.

To get the 93 euros or 80 euros prices you must book months in advance as those discounted tickets are sold in limited numbers - regular fare is 193 euros - about $270!

There's an excellent direct centre-to-centre City Night Line sleeper train, leaves Berlin Hbf (5 min walk from the Reichstag, 10 min walk from the Brandenburg Gate) at 20:07, arrives Paris Est 09:24 next morning.
Fares from 59 euros with couchette, although as palenQ says you'll probably see higher rates than that on average - fares vary like air fares.
As well as 6-berth and 4-berth couchettes (padded bunks with rug and pillow) there are also 1, 2 and 3 bed sleepers with washbasin, plus some deluxe sleepers with en suite shower and toilet.
Book online at www.bahn.de/en and print your own tickets.
