Bed & Breakfasts

My fiance and I are traveling to Europe for our honeymoon next month. We will be spending 11 days in Germany and 3 days in London. If anyone has any recommendations on mid priced Bed & Breakfasts or quaint hotels for either of these locations, please share. Also, any favorite dining places are also welcomed. Danke!

As was mentioned above, it is difficult to advise you without knowing where in Germany. Germany is similar in size and diversity to the "Big Ten" (OH/IN/MI/IL/WI/IA/MN).

I find that the best way to approach lodging in Germany is to click on the website of the town - - and a very high percentage of smaller towns have a website at www.townnamehere.de - - take a look at www.oberkirch.de as one example. This is a preety typical example - - some English available for some screens, though it helps to know some German. Lodging falls under Gastronomie (roughly "hospitality" as it includes both Restaurants and Accommodations) not Tourismus (sights).

The German National Tourist Office is also an excellent source of info, though you need to call TOMORROW to get in time to do anything with the packet(s) they send to you. If you are lucky enough to live in Los Angeles or New York, you could go there in person.

The website www.towd.com has info on the National Tourist Office(s) for Germany (and every other part of the world), as follows:

German National Tourist Office
8484 Wilshire Blvd.
Beverly Hills, CA 90211
Telephone: +1 323 655 6085
Fax: +1 323 655 6086
Email: [email protected]
Web site: http://www.visits-to-germany.com
This entry last updated March 2001

USA/New York

German National Tourist Office
Chanin Building, 52nd Floor
122 East 42nd Street
New York, NY 10168-0072
Telephone: +1-212-661-7200
Fax: +1 212-661-7174
Email: [email protected]
Web site: http://www.us.germany-tourism.de/

Best wishes,

Rex
Rex thank you so much for all the helpful information. We are planning on flying into Frankfurt, then renting a car to drive to Munich. Stay about 2 days in Munich, 2 days in the swiss alps, 2 days in Rothenburg and finally 5 days with family in kitzingen. Then we are flying into London for three days. I will definitely look into the information you provided. Thanks again.
Jen

Jen, why not a couple of days in the German Alps outside of Munich. Also beautiful and alot less driving!

Although I have never been in the "the best part " of the German Alps (Garmisch-Partenkirchen, just to name one example) - - I think the suggestion from "sss" is "spot on".

And you're very welcome, Jen.
