Bed and Breakfast in Berlin, Wuppertal, Bad Koesen, Freiberg

My husband and I are planning our trip to Germany for this November. We have heard some reports about local Bed and Breakfast places that offer cheaper accomodation than hotels and wish to find out more about them specifically those in Berlin, Wuppertal, Bad Koesen and Freiberg.

We are non-smokers, non-drinkers looking for a quiet, comfortable place in each of these towns as we explore the areas round about them.

You'll find more and better-located B&B's at good prices in small towns. Berlin, Wuppertal, and FreibUrg (note spelling) are all pretty big. Where the heck is Koesen?? That might be small enough. For Freiburg - you might try nearby Kirchzarten, a cute little place just a few minutes from Freiburg by train. Kirchzarten, unlike Freiburg, is one of the towns that offer the Konus Karte, a guest pass that lets you use all trains and buses in the Black Forest area for free during your stay. You could ride the train into Freiburg for a visit, or take an outing along the scenic Hell's Valley or Black Forest Railway routes to visit other BF locations for nothing.

Pretty sure they meant Freiberg, Sachsen, near Dresden, rather than Freiburg im Bresgau, Russ.

They don't get within 450 kms of Freiburg with the other destinations listed all in northern Germany.

Russ - Bad Kösen is a spa town in the Saale valley in Saxony-Anhalt, not far from Naumburg. The town's website is unfortunately in German only but it has a list of inns (Gasthof) and B&Bs (Pension) here: http://www.badkoesen.de/frame-unterkunft.htm

Marian_Kuhn: Freiberg or Freiburg? Saxony or Black Forest? Apologies if we underestimate you, but we often have posters here who confuse the two, that's why we are asking.

Assuming it is indeed Freiberg: The website of the tourist office is www.freiberg-service.de but it seems to be offline at the moment, I cannot open it. I stayed in Pension Reichel last December, a plain but friendly place in a quiet side street close to the station and about 10 minutes walk from the old town. The same owners also run Pension Krone which is located in the middle of the old town close to the cathedral.
If you want to read about my exdperiences in Freiberg, I have a page about the town over on Virtualtourist: http://members.virtualtourist.com/m/f86bd/f6d5/ Sightseeing took place under somewhat extreme conditions with lots of snow, you won't experience that in November. Freiberg is a gem, good choice.

The website for Freiberg is online again. Here are some B&Bs (Pension):

www.pensionen-reichel.de

www.blaue-blume.de (!)

Sorry for the botched spelling correction, Marian! So few people ask about Freiberg, and so many confuse -berg and -burg that only Freiburg (im Breisgau,) which is marginally closer to Wuppertal than Freiberg and better known, seemed possible.

Also sorry I've no suggestions for you. Have a good trip.

I had some trust in a poster who knows how to spell "Bad Koesen";-)

Have a great trip! November is not the season when the landscape looks finest, but in case you are in Germany over the last weekend of November you will already find the Christmas markets open.
