Bassano del Grappa and environs
After our stay in Venice we will be heading to Bassano del Grappa, with car, for several days. Are there any day trips we should be sure to take, and more importantly any recommendations for dining in the area?

Don't miss the Nardi grappa distillery at the end of the Palladian bridge. They serve samples - the cedro grappa is delicious.
There are two outstanding Palladian villas near Bassano, the Villa Emo and the Villa Barbaro.

We leave tomorrow! Verona, Venice, Bassano is where we are sleeping, planning day trips to Padua, Trieste and around Bassano. Have reservations for Scrovegni Chapel, boat tour/Palladian villas on Brenta Canal and The Last Supper. Would live to drive the Prosecco Road. Otherwise, strolling and eating.

If you like the sculptures of Canova, drive to Passagna to see his studio and temple. And, on Mount Grappa, there is a stunning war memorial sprawled down the mountain side. The excellent Bassano del Grappa tourist information office can tell you about these.
