Basque County

I have five days to spend in the Basque County after my business trip in Barcelona.

What is the easiest way to get from Barcelona to the Basque County... and the easiest way to travel within Basque County... Bilbao, San Sebastian, Pamplona, and the Wine Country?

Thanks

Train: 8 hours from Barcelona to Bilbao or San Sebastian, or 9 hours on a night train. www.renfe.es to show the stops along the way (including Pamplona).

Fly to Bilbao or San Sebastian, one hour, and then drive between the destinations. Or drive between Barcelona and Basque, but it is very long (12+ hours).

The best way to get around the Basque Country is by driving. Try to stay off highways and you'll be rewarded with very dramatic scenery. Don't miss Guernica, Vitoria, San Sebastian and, of course, Bilbao.

You should fly from Barcelona to San Sebastian (1 hour), and then take the bus (AUTOBUSES PESA- 1hour to Bilbao). From Bilbao go to Vitoria (bus or train) and then go to La Rioja (wine country).
