I've heard from a friend that there will be a protest in Barcelona this October. My husband and I are arriving in Barcelona on the 20th of October, coming from the US. Is it something we should be alarmed of?
Please your thoughts..??

I just checked the local press. There's a strike by some unions called for October 18th, but in addition, some other independent groups are planning some big protest around that time, however no specific date(s) has been called for. I wouldn't change anything, just stay tuned. I have a friend in Barcelona, I'll ask her if she can shed some light on this.

You might want to follow this thread on another travel forum started by a native of Barcelona regarding the upcoming October protests. The OP, a regular poster there, often warns about possible strikes, demonstrations and how to avoid them in his city.
