Austria for 2 days
yes, as unfavorable as it, my dear readers, i'm in austria for only 2 days...i'll be arriving from Budapest by..train? I really want to see an alpine village in all its flowering glory and towering mountains...i'll be there Sept 1st weekend....please tell me...do i have hope or must i hang out in Vienna alone (2 hr train ride from Budapest).

You can take a day trip from Vienna to Melk. See the abbey, stroll through the town, take the boat to Durnstein, rent a bike and bike around and then make your way back to Vienna by train (Durnstein to Krems to Vienna).

do you think hellstat would be too much? spend 1 night in vienna and 1 night in hellstat? it's a 4 hour train ride - it seems really pretty....

Hallstatt is a very pretty village! Really depends on your flight departure, I guess, from a timing standpoint. I'm assuming that you are flying out of Vienna.
Maybe look at St. Wolfgang or St. Gilgen or Salzburg, also. All great places!

thanks well the option is we arrive in Vienna on the 4rth morning by train from Budapest...so 2 hour train ride...
