ANYONE KNOW NANCY???
Hi All
Will be in Paris for a week next month and want to take a day trip out of Paris for one day while we are there. Daughter has decided it would be neat to go to Nancy (guess what her name is). Anyone know anything about that town? Is it worth the effort?
Thanks again for the info.

Hi S,
If daughter wants to go to Nancy, take her.
It is an easy daytrip on the TGV.
It is a very pleasant town, particularly nice if you are interested in Art Nouveau (great museum)
See my trip report:

Enjoy your visit.

Nancy is worth the visi. The core of the city is Place Stanisla, flanked by palaces and cafés.
There's is Musé des Beaux-Arts.
And if you love Art Nouveau, do not miss the Musée de l'Ecole de Nancy.
Lunch at the beautiful Brasserie Excelsior.Stop at Lefevre-Lemoine to buy the red tin of Nancy's bergamots(Audrey Tatau as Amelie pulls this box from the wall)
If your driving, on the way to Nancy, stop in Commercy to buy the oval wooden box of the madelaines that Proust made famous.

I wanted to visit Nancy too.
We spent the night in a lovely hotel right on the square. I have written before on Fodors that that is the place we had to evacuate because local teachers were rioting and throwing cobblestones at anyone within shot.
I agree with Ira and cigalechanta on their site advice. It is a very pleasant town (when the teachers aren't rioting, lol).
I bought some candies in Nancy tins for gifts.
