Amsterdam to Den Haag to Hoek of Holland in 1 day
Hi there,
I'll be flying into Amsterdam (arriving early aftn) and taking a ferry to London. Am planning to visit Madurodam before I take the overnight ferry.
Is there enough time for me to do so and what is the best way to get to Hoek of Holland from Den Haag Stn?
I'll be travelling alone and this is my first time visiting so am a little lost right now. Pls help?

I assume you are taking the night boat? Check is from 18.45 to 21.30 so you should have time for a quick Madurodam visit if your flight is very early afternoon.
You can get a train, or two to Hoek van Holland Haven.
If you get the train from Den Haag Centraal you need to change twice - at Den Haag Hollands Spoor and again in Schiedam, or get the train at Den Haag HS and cut out one change. The same bus (22) and tram (9) serve both stations and Madurodam.
It takes 51 minutes from Den Haag CS, 41 from Den Haag HS.
Because there are more direct routes from Amsterdam to Hoek van Holland haven you will need to buy separate tickets for the two legs.

hi hetismij!
Thanks for the tips, yeap I'll be taking the night boat. Have more or less sorted out the route from Amsterdam - Den Haag Centraal - Madurodam - Den Haag Centraal.
However I still cant seem to figure out the route from Den Haag to Hoek of Holland. So would you recommend dropping off at Den Haag HS (pit stop) rather than Centraal?
As I'll have with me a large trolley luggage and backpack, am thinking of leaving it at the station locker and collecting it after my Madurodam visit.

You can check the schedule for any train joureny in the Netherlands on www.ns.nl.
There is also a journey planner for all Dutch public transport, including trains, trams and buses on www.9292ov.nl. This allows you to enter an attraction such as Madurodam as your departure or arrival point.
Both stations, Den Haag HS and Den Haag Centraal, have luggage lockers.

If you are leaving luggage then you will need to go back to CS. Not a problem. You then get a train to HS, where you get the train towards, Rotterdam, but you get off in Schiedam for the train to Hoek van Holland Haven. Sometimes it is possible to do it from CS via Delft and Schiedam. It depends on your timing.
If you go to http://www.ns.nl/reisplanner-v2/index.shtml you can in your dates and approximate time (including arrival time if you prefer) and see what trains are running.
