Those blind really led the blind! It was funny the way that Rob's giving the other teams a hard time about a nonexistant earlier flight, got them to find an earlier flight.

Ron and what's her name lucked out getting the night at the four seasons. They will leave with clean clothes and have a good location to beg.

Uchenna and Joyce started with only a 6 minute lead, but must have at least a couple of hours lead now. I hope they don't start the next leg with a bunching of groups.

I'm really happy that Uchenna and Joyce have the lead! I can probably live with M&G in the final three - they really are a tough pair of grandparents.

I'm SO glad that Romber didn't get the Travelocity prize 'cos then I really would have thought it was rigged!

Istanbul is a great city - I would love to visit there - it looked so clean.

So it was a nonelimination round - so one more team off next week and then the final! It's gonna be fun.

I was really annoyed at Rob's comment about the other two teams being stupid! Esspecially since they were ahead of them.

moldyhotelsaregross Apr 26th, 2005 06:28 PM

I loved how Rob's plan backfired! I didn't just laugh when the other teams found a better flight but I cackled!

mnss Apr 26th, 2005 06:45 PM

Me too! and Rob kept bashing the other teams and calling them stupid!

He kept looking for a direct flight from India to Turkey, even though the faster flight was an indirect flight!

I guess now he knows who's actually stupid!

lyb Apr 26th, 2005 08:26 PM

I do like Rob and Amber, but I must say that this was a good one! Getting outsmarted like that when he kept calling Uchenna clueless is priceless!

Though Gretchen kind of gets on my nerves, I admire those two for getting so far, I don't know that I could make it that far.

Here's the order that I'd like to see at the end....oh, wait, it's exactly the order that they arrived tonight! I know that's going to change most likely, but that would definitely be my preference!

SuzieTrue Apr 26th, 2005 08:28 PM

Also loved how R & A had trouble finding the square for the detour. Nobody to come to their rescue!

Loved Rob's face on the ferry when he asked how many teams had already taken the boat. Also glad that the front two kept the lead gained by the earlier flight.

Giovanna Apr 26th, 2005 09:21 PM

There flat just ain't no justice! Uchenna and Joyce came in first last week and again tonight and are yet to win a trip. The team that comes in last gets $20 thousand to spend on Travelocity and a suite at a nice hotel! Am I the only one that thinks there's something wrong with this picture?

And by the way, those of you who said Gretchen does nothing but whine--how about you climbing a rope ladder and rappeling down the side of a tower! I'll watch from the bottom. :S-

CiCi Apr 26th, 2005 09:28 PM

Good show tonight!! As already mentioned, Istanbul was gorgeous and everyone there seemed so friendly! I loved the detour in the square where they were weighing everyone!

So glad that Rob's mind games backfired this time!!! EVERYONE in my TV group was jumping for joy when U/J and G/M made it to Istanbul a lot earlier than the other 2 teams. And kudos to Gretchen for getting through that physically challenging last roadblock.

Too bad Uchenna and Joyce didn't get a prize again, but at least Romber didn't get it either! Maybe this way Ron will get to travel before settling down with Kelly like he wished for. Can't wait till next week!!!

lindilindi Apr 27th, 2005 04:46 AM

If my boyfriend said he'd like to travel before settling down I'd say "Great! I'll come with you!". By the way - you can be married and have a family and still not be "settled down". She's obviously very bitter about something. She's used to more attention I guess.
All this talk about the race being planned - you could not plan a reality show and expect to get away with it. There are many many people involved in doing this show and it would have gotten out a loooong time ago. This is not like one person whispering the answer to a contestant! And I don't believe the staff has anything to gain from it either. So it's all a pile of rumours in my opinion.

Shane Apr 27th, 2005 04:53 AM

I guess Ron and Kelly won't get married after all. Tears flow from millions, I'm sure.

Wednesday Apr 27th, 2005 05:06 AM

I watched also-That Kelly was making me so mad when she made the comments to her boyfriend about getting out of the military early by being a POW. She is so cranky and rude...I hope he came to his senses about marrying her, she just isn't a kind person. I was happy the others teams got the first flight...karma was working just then..and so proud of Gretchen for climbing that wall and not giving up, good for them !

yoonny Apr 27th, 2005 05:08 AM

Istanbul is quite beautifuly but did anyone notice that the city's population is 99% men? Just wondering where all the women were...........

Lesson of the show: Saying little too much could backfire (Rob!).

ucsun Apr 27th, 2005 06:27 AM

you all know i'm a romber fan. but it sure did feel good to see him knocked down off of his perch. boy, talk about something "coming back to bite you in the a$$".

U/J are playing real well. but i still think romber has been so good the whole season. this reminds me of TAR 5 when collin/christie where so good and fell short at the end.

Keith Apr 27th, 2005 06:45 AM

I agree, Istanbul shines after the visit to India.

I have never considered Turkey to be one of the places I would like to visit, but am reconsidering after watching last night's show.

massagediva Apr 27th, 2005 06:54 AM

TAR has really changed my list of potential travel spots.I had never been too interested in seeing South America, but after seeing some of the shows over the last few years,it's near the top of the list for me.It's really what keeps me tuning in.I'm going to India for the first time in October,so I've really been enjoying the last couple of episodes.

I am a Romber fan,as well as a Uchenna/Joyce fan, obviously for different reasons. It was pretty good to see Rob get a bit of a comeuppance, though. Can't wait to see what happens next week!

ncgrrl Apr 27th, 2005 06:56 AM

Boy that earlier flight comment came back to haunt Rob. I had a good laugh over that one. And then to have other travel agents agree there was no earlier flight while Joyce/Uchenna and Gretchen/Meredith found and earlier flight. I wonder if the TAR crew know all possible flight combinations beforehand and were having a good laugh at Rob.

Time stamps for leaving this leg: Joyce/Uchenna: 11:24, Rob/Amber, Ron/Kelly: 11:26, Gretchen/Meredith: 11:33. Joyce shaved her head for 2 minutes. Well, she didn't have to deal with camels and it did take them a couple of tries to find the right place.

I doubt next week is an elimnation round, leaving 4 couples to race to the finish May 10.

I guess next week is England and driving double-decker busses. But it seems like they are backtracking around the globe, when the show says A race around the world. A race to India and back is not around the world.

So maybe Australia or New Zealand (do they have the double decker busses?)

Barbara Apr 27th, 2005 07:03 AM

I agree with ucsun. Rob's smart mouth cost them the leg. Of course, U&J and M&G would never even have thought of looking for an earlier flight if Rob hadn't said that. Lucky he did it this week and not next, when there will be an elimination.

After they realized, on the ferry, that they were not in first place after all, R& A zipped through everything, as usual. They didn't get lost on the way to the square, they just made sure they were on the right track. It's that kind of thing that makes them the best team left.

Have to give Gretchen kudos for the climbing roadblock. She is still an unpleasant woman, though, and not just because she whines all the time.

chepar Apr 27th, 2005 09:54 AM

Istanbul was just gorgeous. I've been wanting to go to Turkey for a while, and this episode just made me decide to plan it for sooner rather than later.

While I have been enjoying watching Rob and Amber on the show, I would not have been upset at all had either they or Ron and Kelly been eliminated last night. I guess Rob's calling the other teams "stupid" and Kelly's calling Uchenna a "leech" irritated me. Seems like Kelly and Ron are being a little leech-like themselves with Rob and Amber lately.

I sure did enjoy watching their arrogant over-confidence deflate.

While Gretchen's screeching/whining is irritating, I sure was impressed with her climbing that ladder. I've done one of those before - and it is tough. I wondered why Meredith suggested she do it, though, as it sounded from the clue to be physically challenging.

I noticed that Phil told Ron and Kelly that they had to "start the next leg with no money". I guess that means they can't beg overnight at the hotel - they have to start the leg before they can beg?

HKP Apr 27th, 2005 10:22 AM

Can't Ron and Kelly sell the fruit basket and shampoos from the hotel? ;-)

Ain't no justice unless Joyce and Uchenna get SOMETHING for all they've endured!

If producers think the only reason the ratings are up for this race is the conflict, that's a shame -- because what has ALSO made it a great edition of AR is that they are emphasizing the travel and the countries and the sites and the sights! Could do without foot-stamping idjits, but more more more views of faraway places!

Grasshopper Apr 27th, 2005 10:27 AM

It's a mystery to me how anyone could like Rob and Amber. He's bossy and pushy and manipulative and creepy.

It's truly a miracle that Merideth and Gretchen are still there. They got more than a little bit of assistance from Ucchina and Joyce this week. But I guess if it were down to three teams, I'd rather compete against them than one of the other teams.

I wonder how Ron and Kelly will manage with no money. At this point I doubt that the other teams will be very generous.
