Airport shuttle or taxt in Paris

Heard varying reports on the shuttle service to get to your hotel. Could someone update me from their recent experience. Is the saving sufficient to go this route over a taxi say from CDG to the Opera Garnier. Do I also understand the shuttle can be reserved via the internet. Appreciate any help.

I confirmed shuttle service via the internet and got a quick reply and email chat to boot. All I have to do is pick up a phone when I arrive at CDG nad they
will pick me up and take me to hotel...
not that expensive ... about $18 per person.

Airport Shuttle, a van service. You can call them when you arrive, they pick you up at your terminal and take you to your hotel. They may be picking up others as well, so you may make stops at other hotels before you get to yours.
The e-mail address is:
[email protected]
They have a desk at the airports, but encourage booking in
advance so you don't have to wait. Toll-free # from US is 888-426-2705.
Their web site: www.paris-anglo.com/clients/ashuttle.
html.
In March 99 it was 89FF per person for two or more.
You can reserve prior to leaving home (they'll ask for a credit card for a deposit). Go to the courtesy telephone near baggage claim at either Orly or CDG. You'll be directed to a nearby gate where the van will pick you up. I have read mixed reactions on this service. Some have praised it, some have said they were kept waiting for the van for a long time..
Taxis
Taxi stands at CDG airport
Aérogare (building) 1 gate 16
Aérogare (building) 2 gate 7 - arrivals hall
Terminal 9 in front
Trip from CDG airport averages 200-300 francs, depending on traffic.
Ditto experience to the above.
I did wait longer than I felt like waiting after an all night cattle car like flight on good old Delta.
But while waiting, I got a chance to watch automobile fender benders French style. I am not sure how liability is determined; the drivers were still exchanging greetings and pleasantries when we left. The experience made me decide to decline the use of a car in Paris. I don't know the appropriate gestures and I don't have the correct vocabularly in French. Some of the hand signals looked like the middle half of the peace sign, only it was reinforced by sound effects and two additional fingers.

We used the shuttle last year and it was fine. I doubt if it is any better or worse then shuttle services in the U.S. (i.e. Super Shuttle, etc.) We booked in advance, they spoke English (altho we speak French too), the drivers were both courteous, we were the first people to be left off in Paris and made two stops to pick up passengers enroute back to CDG - neither stop was more than 2 minutes. We'd use them again.
