Airport hotel or Barcelona Sants hotel
Can anyone recommend a hotel nearby the airport and/or Barcelona Sants that is within a $100 price range? We'll be staying in an apartment in Barcelona for 4 or 5 nights, then heading to Andorra for two nights. We'll arrive back into Barcelona the evening before heading out to Zurich and don't really feel the need to head out into town since we'll have two tired children with us and an early morning flight. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

The Expo Hotel is next to the station. Less than 5 minutes walking to the station. Stayed there on business, was okay, got a good rate. Free Wifi if you book thru hotel website - their rate matched the consolidator's rate.
Train needs appr. 20 minutes, 2 trains/hr - and is perfect when you depart from (old) terminal 2. If your flight leaves from T1 you need to take a free shuttle bus which will add 10 minutes to the travel time (plus waiting time for next bus).
If your bus from Andorra served also the Sants bus station, you could also walk in 5 minutes to the Expo.
That area is still pretty much in town, though the immediate neighborhood is a bit bland. But if you decide otherwise, a taxi will get you to the more interesting parts of Barcelona for under €10.

Thanks Cowboy. 20 minutes...possibly 30. Hmm...Now I'm thinking I'd rather stay on the bus from Andorra that evening and have it take us to an airport hotel so we can save 30 minutes in the morning. We need every minute we can get with these two girls of ours! Any airport hotels that you could recommend? Air rooms? Best Western?

I just checked my notes. We stayed at Renaissance BCN and didn't like it at all, not very nice. Full of cruise ship tours, a sterile hotel, terrible service, and noisey so that eliminates one of them.We wished we had styed in the city.

Their is a new hotel inside the terminal. Looks like rooms are very small.. but maybe they have a larger one. Seems it is inside the business center. I hope you find what you need.

Sorry, never stayed at or near the airport.
Except for that new hotel which lin mentioned, the others are more in the area than on the airport premises.
If you think about the new air rooms, make sure that your flight leaves from Terminal 1. Otherwise you would have to add 15min for wait and ride with free shuttle to T2.
If you want to fly easyjet to Geneva and the 8.30 flight is too early under these circumstances, there should be another flight at around 1pm. Should be more convenient and give you more time when dealing with small children

Do any of you know about how strict hotels are in Barcelona? I'm trying to book online, but because we have two kids it's not letting me pick a double room. The kids are 3 and 1 and usually end up in the bed with us anyway so I don't really need two double beds. I am willing to pay extra for a crib, but don't really want to pay for a "family" type of room since they seem to be more expensive. I'm just wondering if I book a double room, add on a crib, and bring two kids are they going to turn me away?!
