Airline Advice Needed

I have posted this query on the other Forum without success, so thought I would try again here. We are planning to fly from London to Cairo next year, and then need a flight from Cairo to Europe to link up with a Qantas/BA flight back to Australia. Has anyone any experiences with any of the airlines flying these routes?? Would be ery grateful for any help you can give me.

Prue-Could you fill us in as to why you are going back to Europe? Is it just to catch the BA/Qantas flight from London or are you doing more sightseeing? Why could you not take a BA or something similar out of Cairo to go back home? Give some more info on actual travel plans, etc. and I think you will get more help. Debbie

Sorry, I agree with Debbie that this doesn't make much sense. However, BA at the moment flies once a day, 7 days a week, direct from Cairo to LHR and Egyptair flies once a day every day except Monday and Friday. It is a 5hr 20min flight. Then you'll have to fly it again back to Oz. Sounds fun. There are also indirect alternatives (eg Lufthansa, KLM, Alitalia, etc).

Debbie and Julian - thanks for your replies - Yes, it does sound strange, but we will be on an around the world ticket using BA/Qantas and we liked the idea of getting back to Europe briefly, maybe Rome, and then heading for home from there. The alternative of travelling down to Nairobi etc. does not appeal at this time.

Hi Prue
EgyptAir is meant to be OK, but if you can fly 1st class - it's very cheap compared to others. my sis took it last year. I wouldn't fly it cause you can't get a drink! (they give you small bottles - 2 I think - before you board, it's the muslim thing.
Gulf Air on the other hand, I have flown and it's terrific - both business and first.

Melanie, thanks for your reply - those were the sort of airlines I was wondering about. Have heard good things about Gulf Air too, and we would be flying Business.
