accommodations

I will be in Rome, Florence and Tuscany for 10 days in late June. I am looking for reasonably priced (about 100$ or less), safe, cool places to stay. Any suggestions? Thanks. Amy

This is so broad that it will be difficult to get a comprehensive answer. Someone may tell you the hotel that they stayed, but this is not a statistically valid sampling.

I've never been to those cities but I have been to Milan.

I did do a search for Rome last year and there were several hotels that were between 70-90 euros. I might have used yahoo and searched under Rome hotels. As far as safe, some areas of Rome are a bit seedy, I've heard. However, it's ok while it's daylight then slam the door shut and you will be ok.

You said Rome. Florence and Tuscany. Florence is in Tuscany, where in Tuscany do you mean? This area is done to death on this board so put a search up and I'm sure you'll see lots of nice hotels where other posters have stayed.

Hi - I posted a reply to this message yesterday but it must have been caught by gremlins. Or maybe it sounded like an ad - so I'll be less gushy this time.

Anyway - for good, cheap, clean 2 star accommodation in Florence try Hotel Piccolo. We were very happy with it. They have a website www.piccolohotelfirenze.com

The hotel is in Via San Gallo and well located close to station, duomo, markets and galleries.

It was second cheapest hotel we stayed in and probably the best.

Anyway - hope this helps.

Where are you going to be in Tuscany? There are many towns in that area and you can easily find hotels under $100, especially if you are wanting a single room.

We really liked the Soggiorno Battistero B & B right on the Piazza del Duomo. Great location. Very pleasant fresh rooms. English speaking hosts. The only downside was that it's 3 or 4 flights up with no elevator.
