A 3 month stay in Europe

A 3 month stay in Europe
My wife and I are considering taking 3 months and living in Europe. Other than a passport is there anything else that would be required in order to stay for that extended period of time? Secondly what would need to be done if we wanted our cell phones #'s from the US to work in Europe? What type of cell phone charges can you expect? Any suggestions that would make the 3 month stay more wonderful than we anticipate?

Assuming you're Americans, you cannot stay in Europe more than 90 days without a special visa, so make sure that 3 months isn't more than 90 days.
If you want your cell phone numbers to work in Europe you have to unlock your phones if they aren't already and sign up for an international roaming plan, which will be expensive. If you can live without the same numbers, it will be far cheaper to buy new phones once in Europe, with the SIM cards that correspond to whatever country you're in.

That's a tall order! Since we have no idea what you are anticipating or what you want to do!!
Do you want to move around the entire time and try to see a lot of different places? Or would your rather go just a few destinations, rent an apartment and live like a local? Or something in between?

We did this - but for two months, not three. Rented an apartment in Venice and loved it.

We stayed in Europe for 96 days last year, starting in England, then France, Germany, Switzerland and finishing up in Italy. We rented apts in several of the locations for one week stays. It was fun living like a local for short periods of time in different locations.
We used Skype and MSN messenger for video calls with the small laptop I brought. We bought a cheap phone through Call in Europe and used that for our time over there mainly for possible emergency calls from my elderly father. Check out their website so you understand the charges.
