9 DAYS IN LONDON AND SCOTLAND, PLEASE HELP!

Hello!
My husband and I will be traveling to London and Scotland in November. It will be our first time at either location and we welcome any advice you might have as to hotels or attractions. A travel agent has suggested the High Park Towers in London and Lermouth Hotel in Edinburgh. Has anyone stayed at these places, or could advise on someplace else? We are trying to stay within a reasonable budget if possible (i.e. <$100-120/night).
Thank you in advance for your help!
Sam & Ross

Hi - great places. Besure and take a warm warm coat at that time of year. My memory is more of cold than rain - the typical lined raincoat was insufficient. I think I'd go for wool (or shearling or fur if you have it) with an umbrella.

Hotels: Can't really help you in Edinburg. Hopefully someone else can.
London: we just stayed at the Morgan on Bloomsbury St. It was just around the corner from the British Museum, two blocks from the Shaftesbury Theater, and fairly handy to either High Holborn or Tottenham Ct. undergrounds. Russell square is a bit further - cold on a cold day, but west of Russell Square - actually north and west, is a Safeway(!) in an inner shopping court - and on the west side of the Russell Square underground station was a great convenience store with wonderful cooked chicken dinners. We had a small apartment at the Morgan - so we did quick dinners and theater. Morgan also has rooms - I didn't see them. Decor is ecclectic and simple and clean.

Check Fodors and Frommer for other ideas. My brother & family just stayed in a B&B, I think in the Kensington (Kensington Park?) area. The pricing was equivalent to the Morgan, perhaps a bit more, but it was very nice. There is a great Lond B&B website- which is where they found this place.

Have a great time

You might want to try www.180096hotel.com for London.

Get ahold of a Rick Steeves guidebook. My husband and I have travelled all over the UK and Europe and have found his guidebooks to be right on with all the attractions listed and many recommended b and b's and hotels within a varied pricerange.
He even offers an itinerary if you have no idea at all what to do. Have a great time. We are going to the UK in October.
My sister and I stayed at the Ibis Hotel on Hunter Square, center of town. The hotel is fairly new, clean and a great price, about $80.00 per night. Little John's on Hanover St. and Pierre Victorre on Victoria St, both within walking distance and have really good food. Just E-Mail if I can be of anymore help. Have a great trip.
Try accessing the Websites of Holiday Inn, Forte Hotels, Hilton etc. for their deals. There are lots of them on at the moment, meaning you can pick up rooms for about £45 - £ 55. Most include a breakfast, and all taxes are included.

If you want to get from London to Edinburgh, I suggest the train. GNER runs the service, which is super fast and sleek. I would call them on 0345 225225 {low-cost call} immediately you arrive to book tickets, remembering that the cheaper the ticket, the greater the number of restrictions. Do not just turn up and go, as you will end up paying ludicrously high prices which no sane person would pay! A return ticket should be about £50 per person, good value for such a long way.
Or you could fly on the myriad budget carriers. Check the press on arrival for easyJet or Ryanair or B A offers. {0345 222111, ask for 'World Offers' for the best prices.}
Also, could try the Malmaison in Edinburgh which is nice and new as hotels go.
