6 nights on the Balearic Islands

Hi everybody,

How would you spend 6 nights on the Balearic Islands? I'm not interested in nightclubbing at all. I love trekking, strolling around towns and quiet beaches. I'm planning to visit them in June 2009 as part of another trip.

Thanks.

Hi Castellanese - I haven't visited any of the other islands, but I think you could spend a lovely week in Majorca. The west coast is especially scenic.

Mallorca the big island, i believe will be more interesting than the others.
Mallorca has quiet a lot of inland visits while ibiza(disco kingdom) and Menorca (style and quietness) might not be so interesting.
Someone mention Formentera a nice little island, but is really small and apart from beaches there is very little to do.
Mallorca with the train to Soller or the boat to Cabrera, driving the West coast and a lot of nice beaches. Could be the one.

Another vote for the North West coast of Mallorca. Sandwiched between the sea and the mountains it has some fantastic hiking, small coves to drive or hike down to, pretty towns and villages and some good (and often expensive) hotels and restaurants.

My wife and I spent 6 days in Palma and vicinity. It is beautiful and full of places to suit your trekking. However, be aware that millions of tourists go there in the summer, particularly Brits and Germans. We went in Fall (October) and it was not that crowded.

Thanks everybody for your replies!

I'm torn between Majorca and Formentera. Majorca seems great because there's plenty to do for a week and Formentera seems also great because it looks like a quiet place to rest.

Could I base in just one place in Majorca and be able to day trip to other parts of the island or should I base in the part of the island I'm planning to visit?

Ibiza also looks interesting although I'm not fan of nightclubs at all. Could I base in Ibiza and day trip to Formentera? Is that somrthing you guys would do?

Castellanese.

'Could I base in just one place in Majorca and be able to day trip to other parts of the island ...'

If you have a car you can certainly visit the whole island from one base - we did.

Personally I'd probably choose somewhere like Paguera ...

Hope this helps ...
