4 Days in South East England
Hi Everyone
Suggestions please, We are attending a wedding in Maidstone Kent on 26th June and would like to spend 4 days near the south coast of England....We are in our late fifties and would like somewhere near a nice quiet beach, for nice walks and maybe a bit on sunbathing ..if we are lucky !! Budget Hotel would be ideal

hi kialin,
having lived in the south east for about 20 years before we moved to cornwall, I didn't tend to stay in hotels much, [or at all] but I can suggest some nice places to see/stay in.
if you really want to stay by the sea, you might think of Sandwich or Deal, to the east, or winchelsea or Hastings to the south. but the real glory of the area is its small towns and villages which are to be found inland - some of them like Rye not so very far inland, mind you!
Tunbridge Wells makes a good centre for seeing all the little villages, or Rye, if you'd prefer to be closer to the coast.
have a great trip
regards, ann

I really like the South Downs. Nice rolling countryside, pretty little towns. Bodiam Castle is a moated ruin in the midst of countryside, great to see.
And consider staying in B&Bs for a real English budget experience. Look at www.theaa.com or www.smoothhound.co.uk for listings.
