24 hours in Frankfurt

We'll be in Frankfurt to meet a tour leaving within 24 hours of our arrival. We'll be staying at an airport hotel - suggestion for a great dinner in Frankfurt that can be accessed by the train from the airport?

Frankfurt is known for its Appelwein and one of the most popular restaurants is Adolf Wagner's. We always have the Rippchen, which is the smoked pork chop, with sauerkraut. What can be more German? But they have an extensive menu. The restaurant if full of fun and frivolity! Here's the address: Apfelwein Wagner
Schweizer Straße 71
D-60594 Frankfurt am Main
Schweizer Strasse is a main street and commuter trains S (Green sign with white S in middle)3,4,5,6, all go to the Sud bahnhof from the Hauptbahnhof, which is the main train station. It's a three block walk from the Sud bahnhof to the restaurant along Schweizer Str. Or just take a cab from the Hauptbahnhof, it's not that far in the Sachsenhausen district of Frankfurt.

Frankfurt is 11 minutes away by train, or 14 if you get off at the Hauptwache, which is right in the middle of the city. Ride 5 stops and get off here. My recommendation for this area is "Leib & Seele", which is a 3 min. walk from the Hauptwache. Extensive menu for all tastes, including vegetarian, Frankfurt specialties, lots of schnitzels, and the price is decent too.

My other favorites in Frankfurt are Dauth Schneider or Atschel over in Sachsenhausen. Klosterhof might also be good, and it is located next to the Karmeliter Kloster, which is also well worth a visit.

After dinner or before, go up on the Main Tower, or take a walk along the Main River.

Trains run every 15 min. from track 1, in the Regional train station. Buy a group day ticket for 14.90 euro. This will be valid for up to 5 people, all day.

Wagners is just about my least favorite restaurant in Frankfurt. They have the rudest, nastiest wait staff in town. When I am spending my money, I want a certain amount of politeness, as well as good food. One can get better German/Frankfurt food all over town.

Read the reviews on Trip Advisor for places, to see what others have experienced.
