2 way radios

Have there been any new rules about the use of 2 way radios in France? I have the motorolas, and I am not sure if they are legal.

I know they are very handsome. We also saw people using them while we were in the States, but I don't think they are legal here(in fact I am almost shure they are not), because you can't find them here.
But if I were you, I wouldn't care about that...

The US radios are not legal in Europe because they use a different frequency from the European ones. They DO have them here (only just starting to get popular). I have only just started to see them on the ski slopes in France and Switzerland this year.

Two-way radios are legal in France and most of Europe, but the legal frequencies differ from those in the States. So your American set, though will work perfectly in France and elsewhere, should not be used. I think the frequencies allocated to US sets are close to those used by emergency services, so your use could possibly jeopardise someone's life. You'll probably get away with it, but because of the serious consequences I wouldn't. Cheap European-spec two-way radio sets are widely available, including at airport shops, from as little as 50 euro.

Those cheap European ones are toys. You can't compare them to the ones you have.
