10 days in Scotland in August--Prebook B&B'S?

10 days in Scotland in August--Prebook B&B'S?
We have a tentative itinerary for a road trip but do not not how long we will want to "linger" and "meander".
We will not be going to Edinburgh this year.
Will we be able to find a place to sleep without prebooking? We will turn the car in at EDI for a 9 am flight. Any recommendations as to where to stay the night before our flight..

Mostly depends on where you are going? Plus when in August? The bank holiday will fill places up for several days.
It isn't necessarily the 'popular' destinations where you'd have trouble, since they also will have more hotels/B&Bs. It is harder in the more remote areas where lodging is few/far between.
I'd definitely pre-book if any specific B&Bs/hotels/villages are 'musts'. Consider a hybrid -- pre-book places you <i>really</i> want to stay, and wing it in other areas.

Brits have no money.
90% of our population is staying at home with b&bs being a popular cheap option.
In short, unless you want to be left with the bottom of the pile.....book in advance, it is going to be a busy year.

Some folks like to wing it -- we prefer to pre-book to ease the stress and time it takes searching for a place to sleep.
Before our flights from Dublin, we always stay at Evergreen B&B www.evergreendublin.com. Note there are more than one "Evergreens" in and around Dublin. This one is comfortable (not posh but attractive),and the owners are extremely helpful and hospitable. Olive and Henry serve a bountiful breakfast from a menu, and they are extremely helpful in recommending restaurants, routes to the airport, etc. The location, in Malahide, is an easy drive to the airport.

You might, on the other hand, find it a a bit of a slog to get a 9am flight in Edinburgh!!
9am = 7am check in. Call it 7.30am if you check in online. Stay at the airport. No other option.
I agree with janis. The first fortnight will be busier than the second (Scottish schools go back mid month)

We will be in Scotland August 17-28.
I'll see about "firming up" our itinerary. . . maybe staying at fewer places and making day trips to allow for our "meandering".
We don't have to stick to a real tight budget (if WE don't spend our kid's inheritance, they will!) so maybe the B&B can be part of the experience and not just a place to sleep. Especially if we are spending more than 1 night there.
I'll look into an airport hotel the night before our flight.

Why, buses to the airport run 24 hours a day. It would mean getting out of bed 30 minutes earlier.
