Which camera to take on S. Carib cruise
OK, I'm a first time cruiser so maybe this is a stupid question. I have 2 cameras at home. 1) A Canon EOS (great for portraits, scenery, flowers, animals) with 2 lenses and 2)a point/shoot (great for throwing in a pack or pocket). The Canon takes such beautiful pictures I hate to leave it behind, but its pretty bulky especially with the long lens. Those of you with lots of experience, what type camera do you take??

I think that this would depend on the ports of call that you are going to and what you want to do with the pictures.

If you are going to the Mayan ruins for example you'll want great shots to remember it by.

I might actually consider bringing both... if you are just going to the beach one day you might throw in the smaller one just in case there is something to take a shot of. - if the camera is portable enough and then lock the other camera up for the day.
Barb,

Sand and salt water are the bane of an SLR camera's existance. We have gotten some fine pics with a $150 35mm Nikon. To me, it isn't worth the extra hassle in lugging around an SLR when I'm on vacation -- it's too much work.

If you take it, I'd leave it on the ship (locked up) when going to the beach.
