SEASICKNESS!!

Question to all of you who have traveled on these large vessels: Do these ships rock back and forth a lot more than the "experts" are telling us? Have you ever been ill yourself from this or have had to evacuate back home after pulling into one of the ports? Thanks!

We've sailed 7 or 8 times and I am easy to acquire motion sickness. It depends on where you are going and how rough the seas are. The Med. is a breeze - no problems. Once in the Carrib. when a front came through I stayed in the room most of the day and not many passengers ate that night. You probably won't have any problem, tho. Some people use patches. Don't let it keep you home.

Most of the big ships are safe with motion but you can go to your local drug store and get some motion sickness bracelets, they really work and cost 1/3 of what they run on the ship, if you don't need them after the cruise just take them back. I tell all of my clients to get them and they are a great value
George
Taken numerous cruises on different size ships and don't think the size of the ship has much to do with it however, the condition of the seas do. I personally do not experience sea sickness, being from California, I suppose. However, in all my "sailings" I've never heard of anyone being so sick they had to leave. There are so many products offered these days that fearing seasickness should not be a concern. My Alaskan and Med cruises both had one evening when it got rockin' but all my Caribbean cruise were fairly calm. My suggestion is that you not go during the area's hurricane/increment weather time. For instance, summer in the Caribbean. Have a good time and don't worry about it, there is always dramimine onboard.

We travelled on the tail of a hurricane. The ship shuddered a bit but really didn't rock.

dan-just go to your local physician and get a perscription for a drug called antivert. a stewardess friend turned me on to it twenty years ago and i've used it ever since and NEVER had seasicknes on even the rockiest of ships--do NOT use the patch as a lot of people DO get seasick with the patch. i've been cruising for over 20 years in both rough and calm seas--the newer hugh ships are top heavy, si if you cabin is on a lower level and midship you rarely feel anything--go and enjoy yourself!!!!
