Strange. I wonder if anyone else has noted this. I can't imagine how they would enforce this. People bring food on board all the time, esp. with port stops. Sounds wrong to me. Have you called your travel agent, assuming you used one?

I seriously doubt that this is enforced. (Although, why would you want to bring on snacks? Somthing to niblle while you wait for room service to show up? Talk about coals to Newcastle...)
One think about the fridges, though. On the Conquest we had them clear out the mini-bar so we could use it for our own drinks (which they did with no argument). However, even turning the temperature knob down to its coldest setting, the fridge really wasn't all that cold.

You may want to bring snacks for home, the kind you can't get at home, like island jams, chutneys, etc. or maybe for gifts for others. And do not forget there is a charge for room service. Anyway sometimes it is just more convienent.

Celebrity advertises that they have the right to refuse bringing your own alcohol on board.
The only time I've had anything taken away from me in my carry-on luggage was on Carnival (my first cruise). Never on Princess, Royal Caribbean, or Celebrity.
My last 4 cruises have been on Celebrity, and I've never been hassled about bring on my own. I just never flaunt it. Just got back today from a 10-day cruise on Galaxy. I carried on 14 bubble wrapped bottles of my own homemade wine in one of those 22" roller carry-on's (fit nicely), and 2 bottles in my back pack.
In Key West, bought a 12-pack of Bud and brought it aboard in my back pack. In Cozumel, went to the Corona factory and brought back 3 6-packs in my back pack. I was never questioned.
Refrigerator? Cabin had a mini bar that held 8 of my own cans of beer. I was never questioned, and the Cabin Steward always brought me plenty of ice in a nice big ice bucket to keep my goodies cool.

Celebrity doesn't charge for room service, but if you purchase alcohol or soda (cokes) thru room service, you pay for the beverage. Coffee/tea & room service food is free. They had a special room service menu. I always give the person a couple of dollars tip -- it's amazing how the words gets around and the service gets better/faster.

Hold -- Yes, it was all for me. I am a lucky man -- my wife doesn't drink wine. I get the whole bottle to myself for dinner. It was well worth it compared to what they serve/charge on board, even though I had to pay $12.00 per bottle for corkage. I did give the wine steward and waiter a bottle each for their excellent service. The other 4 bottles for the room. 
jacketwatch -- Grape harvest in the U.S. is late September. Then crush/ferment/press/barrel (French Oak) takes 7-10 days. I rack in January and bottle around July/August. I then take 3-4 cases from each barrel and put away for reserve/aging, and drink the rest. I started this hobby in 1998 and I love playing with different blends.

I'm thinking that the only time one would have to pay for room service on a cruise ship would be if you purchased beer, spirits, or canned soft drinks. Room service for food, coffee, tea, and the like is normally free.
P.S. Give 'em a couple bucks tip. The service gets even better.
