Recommended Baltic cruises 10-14 nights

Looking for a cruise to the Baltics in June 2010. Best value. Balcony stateroom. Good shore excursions. Good food. Have read Holland America, Princess, Royal Caribbean and Norweigan all have cruises. Any advice?

We went on a Baltic Cruise with Celebrity. It was a wonderful 14 day experience. Check them out.

Not the best price, but I considered in the best value because we had 3 full days in St. Petersburg....Oceania!

We've done the Baltic twice with Oceania, on slightly different itineraries. We liked the exceptional food, our cabin overlooking the stern (7116,7121 the best of these), staying overnight in several ports, the ability to arrange all our own shore excursions with good advice on this board, the very good enrichment lecturer, and the absence of other people's children. (We had none of our own on board either.)

We did a Baltic cruise with Oceania last September and LOVED it for all the reasons boom_boom and Jeff mentioned. Due to mid size, ship moored close to downtown in most ports, which was very convenient and gave us great views from our balcony. We also chose Oceania for their policy of NO formal nights, open seating and generous port time. With 684 passengers, we never stood in line for anything, no hassle to get on or off ship. Very friendly and accommodating restaurant staff and cabin crew. It was a great experience!

I also echo that if you have less than 2 nights in St. Petersburg, you're being cheated. There is so much to see there. We just went in July of this year with Azamara. Great cruise. As with Oceania, no formal nights, docked really close to all of the sights because the ship size is the same as Oceania.

I doubt I could ever afford Oceania, but it sure looks nice

I did a 12 day Baltic cruise on the Holland America Rottterdam. I thought it was great. It included a 2 night stop over in St Petersburg and a chance to go to Berlin. I really did enjoy that region of the world also.

We did the Baltic with Celebrity in September this year and would recommend them for the quality of service and food.

We are cruising with RoyalCaribbean this May to the Baltic. IT is our fifth RCI cruise. We really like the Radiance series ship.

I am doing the same thing.....choice has been narrowed down to 2...NCL Sun and HAL Eurodam....both fairly inexpensive but as I understand it you get nickeled and dimed to death but the initial outlays are very good.....food seems to be better of HAL.....as far as shore excursions, especially to St. Petersburg (2 nights for both sets of cruises) what I'm told is not to book the ship's excursions as they are quite expensive but to find private tours....since I travel solo I will be using some of the boards tgo try to join up with a private tour.....

Both leave and return to Dover.....

If you are looking for best value look into Oceania in terms of special offers. There were some which offered free air and 2 for 1 pricing though I doubt they are available in June which is white nights season. We were fortunate enough to do the Baltic during literally the 10 longest days of the yr. on 2007, from June 11-21. This is peak time. The masss market lines all do a nice job. We took the Star Princess and really could not find fault. All went very well. I would advise you to go to cruisecritic and check reviews of the ships you narrow it down to and make your best informed decision. A Baltic cruise is one of the best out there IMHO, esp. in June.
