Does anyone know what Princess' policy for buying a bottle of Liquor (eg Stolichnaya Vodka) on board is? We took a cruise on RCCL and it was no problem and at a very reasonable price. According to Princess' brochure, you can buy it duty free but can't get it until the end of the cruise.

That is the Princess policy. I believe that HAL and RCL are the only lines left that allow you to purchase liquor and take it to your cabin. Bless them for that!

Rich, <BR> <BR>We were on the Dawn Princess,(Southern Caribeane), spring '98, and I recall purchasing, duty free, and consuming a bottle of vodka on board with no problem. In fact, I also recall instructing our cabin steward to keep our fridge stocked with plenty of ice and orange juice. If there was a policy prohibiting this, I was unaware. Perhaps the policy has recently changed. Would be very interested to hear from others on this since we are considering a return cruise with Princess. <BR>

Princess changed the policy in May of 1999. In the boutique, there is a sign that says "All liquor purchases will be deliver on last evening of cruise."

We have sailed on Princess twice and are scheduled to go to Europe in Nov. We received a booklet from Princess that we can purchse a bon voyage gift of several bottles of liquor and it will be waiting in our stateroom, it also said to let your cabin stewart know if you would like addition bottles. However it did say if you bought liquor from the shop they would hold it for you until disenbarkment. We have also bought it on shore and brought it on board. If anyone has info on Europe I'd greatly appreciate it. We start in Rome,Florence,Cannes,Barcelona,Casablance,Dakar,Re cife,Rio De Janeiro Montevideo and end up in Buenos Aires. <BR>Thanks

Besides sneaking them on (which is done quite often). <BR> <BR>When you receive your travel documents you will find a gift order form. Simply send a bottle or 2 or 3 or 4 as a gift to yourself. <BR> <BR>It is a tad expensive but if you wish to celebrate your coming of age or whatever, this is the way to go. <BR> <BR>Slight drawback ...... some lines will charge a $5 corking fee if you take the bottle to the dining room. <BR> <BR>Drink hearty, <BR> <BR>Paul

Plan on the Nov. Dawn Princess tour of So. Carib. Can anyone recommend someplace in San Juan where I can purchase a bottle of rum before I board. How militant is the ship with regards to bringing your own on board?? I'm really not trying to "cheat" the liner, but I'd rather support the local economy.

I was just on Sovereign of the Seas (RCCL) in June and they had a special on the vodka, 2/$19 or something like that, but they would hold it until the end of the cruise. If you wanted it then, the price went up to almost the normal price for just one bottle. So if you were buying it for cheap drinks on board - forget it.

On Rhapsody last month, I saw the same vodka deal (2/$19) but wasn't told I even had the option of purchase for on-board consumption. I was told simply about the delivery at the end of the cruise. No big deal though since RCCL didn't seem to care when we brought liquor back on board from the shops in the ports.

Princess won't let you get the liquor until the end of the cruise. Just buy it in a port and carry it on. We had always bought liquor on the cruise ships, but now we just bring it on. We have fun buying at a local store.
