M.S. Sunbird
Hello . Can any one inform me if they have been on this ship and the cruise to eastern Caribbean( St. Martin. Antigua etc.)? I'm considering this cruise and am wondering about it. Any and all info will be greatly appreciated as we may be first time cruisers. Thanks Gord
Hi Gord,

The Sunbird was Royal Caribbean's Song of America. It was getting run down when they sold it. I doubt if Airtours refurbished the tub.

Are you only choosing this cruise ship because of the price?

I doubt if it is up to the US safety standards.

Why don't you pay $100 more and choose a ship that belongs to CLIA (Cruise Lines Internartional Association)?

Paul

Hi, we cruised on the Sunbird in March of 2000. We had a great time going with a group of 14 adults. There were lots of europeans on board and being that the ship is English, so was the entertainment. We had been on this ship when it was the Song of America - liked it better as Royal Carib. Better service then. All in all it was a great time but a few of our first time cruisers were a bit disappointed. I would probably spend a few more $$ and go for a newer ship if it's your first time.

Built in 1982 and previously owned by RCI, Sunbird is already a crusing favourite with British holidaymakers.

Onboard you will find a wide range of facilities including two swimming pools, a casino. beauty parlour, sports deck, gymnasium and sauna.

My wife and I were on Sunbird in March 2000 for a fourteen night Caribbean cruise. It was our first cruise and we had no complaints apart from the size of our inside cabin.

Three weeks this Friday we will be back in the Caribbean when we fly out to Barbados to join the P&O ship Arcadia for a fourteen cruise in the Southern and Eastern Caribbean....Cant wait, I guess we are becoming cruise addicts.

My wife and I sailed on the Sunbird twice last year, once in the Caribbean and once in the Med. Had a great time. I would suggest however that you do not book your cabin on "B" Deck mid or aft. You can hear the engins and the vibration at high speed is unbelieveable. Hard sleeping. We picked the "Main" Deck for the Med trip. Was much better.
