I'm Scared!!

Taking in-laws (in their 70&quoton a cruise 1st week of November. This is supposed to be a bad hurricane season this year. Anyone know if they are about over by Nov 1? I know the season is through Nov.
Thanks!

Of course anything is possible, but hurricanes this time of year are rare. I wouldn't worry about it. As a resident of South Florida and a veteran of a number of hurricanes, I have taken my elderly in-laws on many cruises (including October and early November)and it wouldn't bother me at all to schedule a cruise during this time.

Don't stress over it. You can't control the weather of course. What you can do, is to be sure to fly in a day early in case of the airport closing down, etc. I also take out insurance for my cruises. I have cruised in Oct. and Nov. and haven't had any problems.

It is so nice of you to take the in-laws on a cruise. Hope you all have an enjoyable time.

Thanks all!
I' still scared. Mom has diabetes and a storm even priop to sailing would be an issue for her. Think I'll re-schedule for January '06. I did get the insurance.

If going in November will cause you stress, then go ahead and reschedule. But I think you will be doing it for nothing. A lady in my office went on a cruise during August, which is the height of hurricane season. There was a hurricane, so the ship diverted and they never got near the storm. Instead of Cozumel they spent the day in Nassau. Cruise lines know how to deal with this. But you know what's best for your family, so do as you wish.

Whenever you go, I like the suggestion to arrive a day early. There's always a chance of being delayed and missing the sailing. And who knows, the delay could be caused by a storm in your hometown. Have a great trip.
