First Time Cruise to the Caribbean

My wife and I are considering a cruise to either the southern or eastern Caribbean in July of 2002. We are looking for a ship that has a casino, fine dining, and extremely quiet rooms. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank You!!

Holland America would probably suit all your requirements quite well. The Maasdam is the only HAL ship going to the Eastern caribbean in July however.
Princess has Grand Princess doing a similar cruise in July but probably won't be as quiet as HAL which usually has an older clientel.
Good cruise specialist would probably be a good source of info.

I would go along with Gerry. See a good cruise specialist. He/she would study your lifestyle and match the cruise to all of you.

Paul

What age group are you and your wife?

Princess may also be a good option.

Very few ships go to the southern Caribbean in the Summer. One nice option is that the Celebrity Millineum will be sailing 10 day from Florida to St. Thomas, St. Maarten, St. Lucia, Barbados and St. Kitts. The last 3 islands are in the southern Caribbean. The only other ships going to Southern Caribbean are the Adventurer of the Seas, Carnival Destiny, and Windjammer ships. Windjammer may be too casual.

Every line has ships going to the Eastern Caribbean. Be aware that school is out and there will be kids on board, so make sure you pick a ship that has a good children's program - if children are well entertained, you won't know they are on board.

From your description, either Celebrity or Princess or Holland America may be a good bet. Talk to your travel agent (cruise only agents are better) but get many opinions from this board and other cruise boards.
