England,Wales,Scotland weather?
I need information on weather in late August and early September. Visiting London, Paris, Dublin and Edinburg. Also, as far north as the Orkney Islands
Also, would like an opinion on the Churchill Intercontinental Hotel in London.
Thank you in advance.

In London, it will be mostly hot and muggy -- when it's not rainy/cloudy for brief moments before returning to hot and muggy. I love this town almost more than anyplace on earth. As far as that hotel, I haven't stayed there. I love the hotels around the British Museum -- good location and within walking distance to the hot spots in the market and elsewhere. It will be freezing (I'm from So. California, keep that in mind -- anything below 60 is like Siberia to me) but it will be very cold the further north you go. If you make it up to the Isles at the top of the country, very cold and dark. Bring both warm weather gear and some cold weather stuff. And enjoy.

We were in Edinburgh mid August last year. We had beautiful weather. It was in the mid 70's. Also was at the Isle of Skye. Was cooler there but was very comfortable in a light jacket. It did rain on Skye but also had periods of sun. It changes very quickly. We were in London at the same time and it was hot and sunny. Not the usual weather for London as the locals were quick to point out.

Have a great cruise. You'll love England and Scotland. It was very beautiful no matter what the weather is like.

Thank you both so much. We will be ready for a nice mixture of weather. Hot and sunny, cool and rainy. I love this site, it is always so helpful and people love to share their wonderful experiences. They add vivid images to the imaginations of people who cannot cruise and valuable advice to those who are lucky enough to cruise. Thank you again.

Well I never cruised there but I did live there for 3 years. Alot is going to depend on the weather you are used to. It can be hot and sort of muggy in August in England, but Dublin and Edinburgh can be more like Maine. Rain, well that's a way of life in england. Fog is another way of life in the United Kingdom. Your daylight hours will be longer and your nights will be quite short. So basically take a little of everything ie., shorts, t-shirts, long pants (jeans), sweaters, rain gear and the like. You will however, no matter what the weather be marveled at the beauty of the country side in the United Kingdom. I was stationed there while in the US Air Force and have greatly missed not being there.
