Cruise Line

My husband and I (late 30's) and my 11 year old son are planning a cruise to the W. Carribean in early Sept. This will be my son's first cruise and our fourth. We have cruised Princess twice and Carnival once before. I am unsure what cruise line would be best for us. I have narrowed it down to four. Holland America, RCL, Princess and Norweigan. Could anyone out there recommend one of these for us that has decent cabin size and good food? Have already checked out the cruisecritic. com.

Thanks,
Jan
Hi Jan,

Since you have sailed Princess and Carnival you should try Holland next. They are getting more family friendly and have a wonderful children's program.

If you are looking for budget go Royal Carib. but you will have to book the ships built in the last two years to find a cabin that is large enough for three.

Paul

Go RCL(better shows, more under 50) or NCL(bigger rooms). HAL is really for an older crowd(most over 60) On HAL there is a lot less activities during the day(11 yr old may get bored) but rooms are bigger and the comfort level is more relaxed. Have you thought of Celebrity?
Happy Travels, CB

Jan,

Don't worry too much about the cabin size. We've had 4 in our cabin several times and it really wasn't a problem. My teens seem to prefer RCCL and Carnival. If you can, stick with something less than 5 years old. Friends just returned from the Imagination with a total of 6 teens and the thought it was great. Have fun!

FOr my personal experience, I LOVE Celebrity- the food is fantastic- and I never really worry about cabin size because we're only in there to change clothes or get ready for dinner--unless you get a suite, don't make a major issue about cabin size--go for the best ship for the least price
